Here Song effectively bridges the connection between users and their surroundings by prompting them to scan their environment and craft unique sound compositions that map the land. This innovative practice resonates with the cultural heritage of Cannupa Hanska Luger's ancestors, who were part of the Northern Plains tribes of North America. Their methodology, known as "singing the horizon," served as a means to forge a deep connection to their land, reinforcing their relationship with nature through sonic experience and melody.

Created by artists Cannupa Hanska Luger and Ginger Dunnill, Here Song received support from Flux Projects, an organization dedicated to fostering public art initiatives that link artists with audiences through the transformative power of place.

In the development of this project, Luger and Dunnill collaborated with a select group of prominent Indigenous composers and musicians to contribute sounds for the application. This collaboration not only allows users to engage with the work of these artists but also enables them to weave new sonic narratives that resonate with the land itself.
